U13 & U11 Girls' v King's College, Cambridge

U13 A: Won 9-0
On a small pitch it was not easy to play our best hockey but we won easily against a weak side.

U13 B: Drew 3-3
We could have won this game easily but missed several easy shots and did not mark their players.

U13 C: Won 8-2
2 of the team had to play for the B team and others were absent so we played with the remaining 8 girls, with Abbey J playing in goal. Everyone moved around having 5 min breaks. This did not stop the flow of the game and the practice we had before the game played off, with Ellie K scoring 3 times from well placed passes from the right.  Chloe G, Sophie B, and Grace F scored great solo goals. Bethan H-L kept the midfield steady and the backs of Gemma W, Catalina K and Shola A made some telling tackles to keep the opposition's score low. A great team effort!

U11 A: Won 10-0
The girl's play some excellent hockey is some very very cold conditions! It was great to see the whole team moving both on and off the ball which allowed fluid and free passing hockey to be played. Felsted put early pressure on the opposition whilst holding their positions. This caused Kings to panic and Felsted were soon rewarded with the first goal by Evie. In what turned out to be a bit of a one sided game, Felsted showed maturity and control over the game. Goal scorers were - Evie (3), Hannah (3), Minty (3) and Holly.
Well done girls!

U11 B: Won 5-1
Felsted started strongly, passing the ball around well and moving off the ball. This was rewarded with 2 goals from Antonia in the first half. Felsted continued this great play and excellent linking between the players. 3 more goals, 1 each for Anotonia, Tash and Affrica were scored before a laspe in concentration allowed Kings to score. A very convincing performance on a freezing afternoon of hockey.

U11 C: Drew 2-2
The U11C girls played hard in the cold, wet and dark on Wednesday against a strong team of girls. Having taken the lead at first we had to fight back from behind for a 2-2 draw, it was an even game with the ball moving up and down the pitch. Mrs Lee disallowed a late goal as it was raised in the circle.

U11 D: Won 4-3
Good result having gone 1/0 and 2/1 down    to win   4/3. Felsted were more skillful and knowledgeable but rather deteriorated to King's level of play. Their GK was very strong and we did tend to shoot at her, however the Felsted girls will learn from this in the future. They all did positively in tough conditions and had fun.

U13 IAPS Girls' Mini Hockey Tournament Finals

The weather was dreadful, raining most of the day and after a difficult start we managed to come 3rd out of 6 teams in our section and went into the plate competition. After beating Foremarke Hall 1-0, we lost to Greshams 0-1 in a closely fought game, placing us runners up in the plate competition. Overall we were placed 6th out of all the Independent Schools in the whole country. So well done and congratulations to the following girls, they gave their all and deserved their success.

U11 IAPS Girls' Mini Hockey Tournament Finals

The U11A team travelled to Repton on Thursday afternoon last week to take part in the U11 Hockey National finals. They were very very excited about staying in a hotel on Thursday night and I would like to say how brilliant they all were. We enjoyed a lovely meal and some even greater acting performances that evening! Friday morning saw the team getting themselves ready for what would be a very long, cold and hard day of hockey. The first match saw us play the team who came second overall and we lost 4-0. Felsted then went on to pull out two draws 1-1 and a loss. This unfortunately meant that we did not proceed to the quarter finals. We did however go on to play 3 other teams for positions in the afternoon. With the pressure off the Felsted team, they relaxed and played some excellent hockey. We won 2 games and drew 1 to finish 16th in the Country!

A huge huge well done to the players for all their hard work this season and for all their efforts on the day. The player's of the tournament went to Ilyd T, Katie K and Holly El but every girl worked harder than I have ever seen them do before.

U11 Girls' v Chigwell

U11 A: Won 11-2
played some of the best hockey I have seen them play on Saturday. They used the whole pitch brilliantly attacking down both the left and the right wings. Excellent passing saw Felsted get into lots of goal scoring opportunities. Goals from Eve (4), Affrica (3), Fenella (2), Minty and Ilyd saw Felsted win 11-2. Good luck to these girls and Hannah Cowie for the Nationals Finals on Thursday.

U11 B: Excellent hockey with lots of passing and movement both on and off the ball. Goals from Hannah (5), Luella (3),Tash, Francesca and Pheobe. Fiora was brilliant at Centre Half, she read the game well, did many great intercepts and set up a lot of goals with great passes.

U11 C: Won 12-0
This was a very one-sided match as our girls have far more experience of hockey than Chigwell. The girls played with great determination and would have liked to have been allowed to score far more goals!!  However, it gave us an opportunity all to play out of position so that the girls can realise that they can play other positions. It allowed them to focus on where they would like to receive the ball and to send their passes accordingly.

U11 D: Won 13-0
Again played with lots of effort and passion. Some excellent goals included passing the ball out to the wings, crossing it in and the left wing finishing it on the post. Felsted won 13-0. Well done girls!

U13 Girls' v Haileybury

U13 B: Won 4-3
Some good team work but poor defence at times let Haileybury catch up.  A good goal near the end put us eventual winners.

U13C: Draw 1-1
The game was very well matched, with some good individual performances, but the team lost it's shape in the second half and we failed to monopolise on our chances to score. Everyone worked hard throughout the game.

U13 D: Lost 1-3
Although we scored first, we allowed the opposition to reach the D undefended and therefore have several shots on goal. Gemma Wood made some very good tackles and Lulu Tritton played very well on the right wing.  Grace Frewin worked hard throughout the game.

U13 E: Won 4-0
We took the initiative from the start and should have been more than one goal up at half time. Pressure in the second half saw Saffron Drewitt-Barlow score twice and Millie McFadzean add to her earlier goal. This was a very good team effort.

U11A IAPS East Region Tournament

The girls travelled to Bishop's Stortford to take part in the U11 IAPS tournament. We got off to a tricky start against the eventual runners-up South Lee. Felsted were a little slow to get going and went 3-0 down but a good goal by Holly E saw the match finish 3-1. Next was Kimbolton, the Felsted girls played some lovely hockey, passing the ball around and using all the space on the pitch. Goals by Hannah and 2 from Affrica saw the match finish 3-0. Holmwood House were next and even though Felsted had all the play we could not quite find the back of the net.
Felsted progressed to the quarter finals and played The Perse. An excellent game of hockey by both teams but Felsted were just too strong and an early goal by Eve saw Felsted relax and play some excellent hockey. Affrica and Holly also scored. 3-0. We met Kings Canterbury in the semi-final and let in an early goal, unfortunately we could not score one of our own and lost 0-1. In the 3rd/4th play off we met St Faiths and the score was tied at 1-1 at full time. We then went onto golden goal and Eve scored for us.
The girls finished 3rd in a very tough tournament and have progressed to the National Finals in Repton in November.
Well done to all of those who played and thank you to the parents for the support.

U11 & U13 Girls' v Bishop's Stortford

U13A: Won 3-1
This was a good match, we moved the ball well and deserved the win. Congratulations to the team.

U13B: Won 6-0
This team are really coming together - some excellent defence and passing skills allowed H.Squibb and O.Snooks to score a substantial number of goals. A great effort!

U13 C: Lost  0-3
Although a loss, the team played well once they had woken up! Chloe Green ran her socks off to help in defence and play attack and Lulu Tritton kept battling away on the left. Tayler Lodge worked hard in the middle.

U13 D: Lost 1-4
Ellie King was player of the match with a fantastic performance on the left wing, as well as scoring the goal. Gemma Wood made some well-timed tackles and Molly Bones tried hard in the middle.

U13 E: Lost  2-7
The team did not wake up until half time by which time they were 0-5 down. A much better second half saw each side score twice. Poppy Harnett and Emily Tydeman were the goal scorers.

U13 F: Lost  0-1
A great team effort, being unfortunate to be beaten by a goal in the dying 2 minutes of the game. Molly Griffiths and Imogen Gander both were outstanding at the back with everyone else working hard for each other.

U11 A: Draw 1-1
This could have been a very different score line for Felsted if we had taken all the chances we created. A good goal by Hannah Cowie saw us bring the score level. Unfortunately we just could not put the ball in the back of the net often enough, either through finishing touches or wrong choices in front of goal. All the girl's tried their very hardest in the match and some of the outfield play was excellent. We started to string our passes together and made Bishop’s Stortford panic. We will continue to work on that final touch in front of goal.

U11 B: Draw 1-1
The B’s started the game slowly with Bishop’s Stortford attacking hard and running around the girls. Phoebe tried hard and gave some great passes out to Luella on the wing. Unfortunately they were unable to score in the first half. The second half was a big improvement, with players making a bigger effort, especially down the wing, and having more opportunities to score. Francesca was sturdy in defence and stopped many attacks along with Cerys in goal. The end score was 1-1. Lots to work on in practice after half term but well done and keep up the effort.

U11 Girls' v St Faiths

U11 A: Won 2-1
The U11A team won 2-1 against a strong St Faiths. We started well with some excellent passing out to the wings and teamwork. We had lots of shots on goal and eventually we managed to scrabble a ball into the back of the net, the final touch being claimed by Hannah Cowie. The second half saw St Faiths come out fighting with some fast attacking play but our backs of Holly Earl, Ilyd Thomas and Fenella Alexander as well as Katie Kingham in goal held them out. St Faiths finally won a short corner for all their attacking and managed to sneak a shot into the goal. Felsted responded brilliantly and a well worked goal saw Eve MacLennan push a ball perfectly into the corner of the goal. A good result for Felsted and still more attacking play to work on. Well done girls!

U11 B: Lost 0-2
The U11B team took on St Faiths and lost 0 -2. Overall it was a good game. The Felsted girls used the width of the pitch to full effect and looked dangerous when attacking. Unfortunately two quick goals from the opposition was just too much for Felsted to return from. Special mention should go to Jasmine Irvine-Scott for her excellent efforts and positional play. Plenty more goal scoring practices to come. Well worked girls!

U11C: Won 3-0
This was a great match as all the girls played with tremendous gusto and energy. Lucy B-B was the woman of the match as she played as she had never played before and scored 2 of the goals. The girls worked hard in defence and cleared the ball to the forwards who collected it and made a determined attack over powering the opposition.

U11 & U13 Girls' v Heath Mount School

U13B
The U13B team took on Heath Mount on Wednesday and won 2-1. After a slow start which saw Felsted 1-0 down at half time, the two super subs of Bella Westlake and Scarlett Coote, both scoring a goal each, saw Felsted turn the result into a win.

U11B
The U11 B team took on Heath Mount U11A team. Felsted played brilliantly against some very skilful players. Unfortunately we lost 2-0 but I cannot fault the girls' effort or determination during the match. Lots of positives, especially from the defence, and just some more work needed on the attacking side of the game.

U11C
Unfortunately, due to time issues, we were only able to play 2x10 minutes. The goals came when we attacked down the right, with Chloe Green and Shola Akindayini dominating the game. We won 2-0.

U13 Girls' v St Edmunds College

U13 E: Won 7-0
The girls' played their first match with an enthusiastic attitude and showed great determination and fight the whole way through. H. Clarke, S. Tameifuna and S. Norton on the wings and G. Frewin playing centre. We had several goals in the first half.  K. Malden and M Abbas, who both had a very strong game, made some super tackles and fed the ball wide which pushed the play up and gave us plenty of chances to score. The defence did not have much play in the first half as our attack was so strong, however St Edmund’s College got more breaks as we become tired, some excellent saves from S. Toomey.
Well done girls, an impressive first game. Keep up your positive attitudes and enjoyment of the game!
Hunny Clark would like to add a thank you to Mrs Green for coaching them and helping throughout the match.

U13 D: Won 7-2
After going down to an early goal, the girls took control of the game in mid-field and forced a levelling goal just before half time. Imogen Gander and Gemma Wood looked secure at the back with confident kicking from Issy Broom. Driven on by the tireless Ellie King in midfield, Felsted dominated the second half with 5 different players scoring.

U13 C: Won 2-0
All of the players worked hard in the game, both in attack and defence. The ball was beginning to be passed with more confidence and out to the wings. Chloe Green showed her versatility by playing in several positions and Scarlett Coote proved what a star player she is going to be, by keeping the pressure on in the attack phases, earning her the player of the match.

U13 A & B Girls' v Greshams

U13 A: Lost 2-4
U13 A team lost 2-4 to a very strong team from Gresham's but a good start showing promise for the  new season.

U13 B: Won 3-1
The U13 B team also played Gresham's and won 3-1, an excellent start.

U11 A & B Girls' v Greshams

U11 A: Won 2-0
The first matches of the season saw the U11 A & B teams take on Greshams at home. With only a week to prepare for the game the girls showed real maturity and determination to play a great match of hockey. The A team were a little bit all over the place to start with but their energy and enthusiasm were second to none. During the first half they started to settle down and play some nice hockey by linking their passes together. In the second half Felsted looked much more dangerous and had some good shots on goal. The final score was 2-0 to Greshams but Felsted learnt a great deal during the game and look forward to putting it into practice.

U11 B: Lost 4-0
The U11 B team started well and looked very dangerous from the off. They played well in their positions and moved the ball around with good control. Unfortunately we were a little too nice to Greshams with our tackles and let in a few easy goals. The second half showed more composure on the ball and again we looked dangerous but we could not quite find the net. Greshams won 4-0 but Felsted gave their all.
